Migxen 85/500mg Tablets are an advanced fixed-dose combination antimigraine therapy combining Sumatriptan Succinate (85mg) and Naproxen Sodium (500mg). Engineered specifically for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults, Migxen addresses both the neurovascular cause and the inflammatory cascade of migraines. By combining a targeted 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist (triptan) with a fast-acting nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), Migxen provides superior, longer-lasting relief from throbbing headache pain, photophobia (light sensitivity), phonophobia (sound sensitivity), and associated nausea compared to single-agent therapies.
\n \nDual-Mechanism Synergism: Delivers enhanced, long-lasting pain relief by targeting both neurogenic inflammation and cranial vasodilation simultaneously.
\nReduces Migraine Recurrence: Combining Naproxen Sodium with Sumatriptan significantly lowers the rate of 24-hour migraine recurrence compared to triptan monotherapy.
\nComprehensive Symptom Control: Effectively alleviates severe head pain, nausea, vomiting, photophobia, and phonophobia.
\nRapid Onset of Action: Fast-dissolving formulation provides measurable pain relief within 30 to 60 minutes of ingestion.
\nSingle-Tablet Convenience: Eliminates the need to take separate triptan and NSAID doses during an acute migraine attack.
\nMigxen 85/500mg Tablets function via two distinct, complementary pathways:
\n \nSumatriptan (85mg): Selective serotonin receptor agonist. It binds to receptors on intracranial blood vessels and sensory nerve endings of the trigeminal system. This induces cranial vasoconstriction, suppresses trigeminal nerve activation, and inhibits the release of vasoactive pro-inflammatory neuropeptides (such as CGRP).
\nNaproxen Sodium (500mg): Non-selective cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) inhibitor. It inhibits the enzymatic synthesis of prostaglandins, preventing neurogenic inflammatory sensitization in central and peripheral pain pathways and halting sustained pain transmission.
\nSumatriptan Succinate (equivalent to 85mg Sumatriptan): Vascular serotonin agonist that constricts swollen cranial vessels and inhibits neurogenic inflammatory peptide release.
\nNaproxen Sodium (500mg): Long-acting NSAID that inhibits prostaglandin synthesis to eliminate neurogenic tissue inflammation and prolonged headache pain.
\nAdministration: Swallow 1 film-coated tablet whole with a full glass of water at the very first sign of a migraine attack. Do not crush, split, or chew the tablet.
\nDosing:
\n \nAdults (18 years and older): 1 tablet per acute migraine attack.
\nSecond Dose: If the migraine returns or response is incomplete, a second dose may be taken at least 2 hours apart.
\nMaximum Dose: Do not exceed 2 tablets in any 24-hour period.
\nImportant Note: Not intended for prophylactic (preventative) treatment of migraines or for the management of hemiplegic or basilar migraines.
\nPrescription-Only Medication: Take strictly as prescribed by a healthcare provider.
\nCardiovascular & Cerebrovascular Warning: Contraindicated in patients with ischemic heart disease (e.g., angina, prior myocardial infarction), uncontrolled hypertension, coronary artery vasospasm (Prinzmetal’s angina), peripheral vascular disease, or history of stroke/TIA.
\nGastrointestinal Risk: Contains Naproxen Sodium; use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease or GI bleeding.
\nSerotonin Syndrome Risk: Exercise caution when co-administered with SSRIs, SNRIs, or other serotonergic medications. Contraindicated within 14 days of MAO inhibitor therapy.
\nRenal & Hepatic Impairment: Avoid use in severe hepatic impairment or severe renal insufficiency ().
\nConsult a physician before use during pregnancy or lactation (specifically avoid during late pregnancy due to early closure of the ductus arteriosus).
\nKeep out of reach of children.
\nStore in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from direct light, heat, and moisture. Keep tablets sealed in their original blister package until time of administration.
\n \nFormulated and manufactured in strict compliance with international pharmaceutical quality standards, dedicated to providing advanced neurology and pain management therapies that restore quality of life and deliver fast, sustained relief.
